Ready To Step Off The Hampster Wheel?
Imagine this…
You’re growing your business and you’re chugging along doing the dang thing.
Then things start to get a little heavy.
Along with your typical admin tasks, marketing tasks, and financial tasks, you have actual client work.
Each day you’re determining the most important thing to work on and a lot of days everything feels important, doesn’t it?
Clients are paying you, so you need to do that work - but when they finish you need to have another client ready, so you need to keep up with marketing.
It starts to feel like a vicious cycle.
Finally one day you see that you don’t want to live in this vicious cycle. You see your worth in not doing it all. You see the value of your time and energy in not doing it all. You see that you can’t do it all.
But, what is your plan?
You don’t need and can’t yet afford a full-time person. You have tasks someone else can do, but they’re also easy for you to do and they don’t take very long.
It’s almost like you freeze with fear. Fear of the unknown. Fear of uncertainty. Fear of not knowing where to start.
I’ve 100% felt this and worked with many clients who have also experienced these feelings.
So what do you do? How do you get past the freeze feeling?
Make a list.
Not just any list…but a list of everything you touch in your business.
Following up with clients.
Entering your numbers into Quickbooks. (Did you just wince?!)
Getting the mail.
Posting on social.
Onboarding a new client.
Everything.
You look at the list.
Determine the following:
What are simple things someone else can do?
How long do they take you to do?
How do you do them?
Guess what you just did?
You just created a job description 🎉
Is it perfect? Maybe not, but it’s a starting place!
What’s next?
Start asking your other small business friends…”Do you know anyone who can do XYZ”? Chances are someone will.
You do a call with them and start talking through what you need and how they could help. You listen, take some notes, and see how the vibe is…AND be open to the fact that you won’t have to do these things!
Okay - how does that feel?
Can you imagine doing this? Would it be worth making this list to see where you can start to hire?
Yes? Then stop reading and get started on your list!
If staring at a blank piece of paper can cause you to freeze up and forget everything you do - let’s talk. With clients, I take control of the keyboard while you rattle off the things you do. I take the thinking out of it for you because that can be the hardest part!
Happy hiring, friend!
