Are We Overcomplicating Business?

Have we overcomplicated business?

I mean at first, it seems like anyone and everyone can start a business because most of it seems like it can be done online.

  • File your business name

  • Build a templated website

  • Start a social media page

  • Boom - millions!

While all of that seems easy - there is a lot more to it.

But, coming back to the first question…once you’re up and going and you’re in it…do we start overcomplicating it?

Do we allow labels to put too much meaning on what we’re doing?

Do we allow social media to put too much pressure on what we’re posting?

Do we allow the thoughts and opinions of others to keep us from doing what we really love?

Do we allow the success of others to make us overthink our plan of action?

While there are strategies for this and for that at the end of the day we offer a product or service that helps our customers solve a problem.

We market to them: social media, newsletters, phone calls (yes, those are still a thing!), networking events

We work within our business: creating a vision and values, keeping track of financials, continuing to better customer services and processes

And lastly: we have fun, surround ourselves with people who believe in us, and show up each and every day.

Here’s to leaving the overcomplicating for something other than our business!

PS: if you’re stuck on what to do next do a fun little thing called a brain dump! List out all of the tasks you need to do and then put them in order of importance or due dates.
